Fun at Frontier Field

Kids Love the Rochester Red Wings

For family fun, you just can't beat an afternoon or evening watching a live baseball game. Frontier Field, the home of our Triple-A Rochester Red Wings Baseball Club, gives your baseball experience a community flavor impossible at a major-league park. Combine the price tag (it costs less to take your family to a Red Wings game than to a movie) with the family closeness and sense of community, and it becomes an opportunity not to be missed.

Tuesday Family Four-Pack

If you show up for a Tuesday night home game, you can purchase the Family Four-Pack, sponsored by the Messenger Post newspapers: Four reserved seat tickets, four hot dogs, four 12-oz. soft drinks, and a yearbook...for only $25!

Knot Hole Gang

The Knot Hole Gang, sponsored by Excellus BCBS, is the Red Wings special club for kids 14 and under. Membership costs just $2 per season! There are 13 special Knot Hole Gang games this season; for Knot Hole Gang members, each Knot Hole game costs only $3 and adults accompanying the member get $1 off their ticket. (What that means is that because the minimum price of a standard ticket is $5.50, you save starting the very first game!) Membership also includes a coupon for a free Coca-Cola product and a free Spikes poster.

How can kids sign up to be Knot Hole Gang members? Some mail-in forms have been distributed through the schools, but the easiest way to do it is right at the ballpark. Just go to the Guest Service booth or the box office before or during any game.

Birthday Parties at Frontier Field

Celebrate your child's birthday at Frontier Field! Birthday party packages include a decorated table, Abbott's Custard Cake and soda, announcement of the child's birthday over the loudspeaker and his or her photo displayed on the scoreboard during the game. Each party guest receives a yearbook and a free round at the Speed Pitch game. The guest of honor receives a choice of special gift, and is honored on the dugout during the game. Optionally, you can include hot dogs or pizza for an extra charge. Click here for more information about parties.

Freetime Baseball Buddies

Freetime Magazine sponsors the Freetime Baseball Buddies program at Frontier Field. Any area youth baseball team can sign up to:

    • Attend a Red Wings game at Frontier Field
    • Be introduced on the field before the game
    • Stand on the field with the Red Wings for the National Anthem
    • Receive a free Red Wings cap

Baseball Buddies registration forms can be found in Freetime Magazine starting in the March issue. The Red Wings administration draws a team at random to participate in each game.

Try your arm at the Speed Pitch!

The Speed Pitch is an inflatable, interactive game set up at every home game by the Walk of Fame, to let everyone have their try at setting a new world's record.

Sundays: Family Bulletin Day, plus Run the Bases with Spikes and Mittsy!

Every Sunday is Family Bulletin Day: Fans receive $1 off any ticket by presenting a publication from any church, house of worship, civic, or nonprofit group (limit of four tickets, each at $1 off).

On Sundays, kids will have the chance to run the bases with Spikes & Mittsy following each Sunday home game. (Run the Bases with Spikes is presented by Chili's Grill & Bar...and they usually present each kid with a Chili's coupon when they reach home plate!)

Friday and Saturday Fireworks

Don't forget...every Friday (starting April 13) and Saturday (starting May 26) home game has a fireworks display immediately following the game.

(Note from the KOA editor: My family attended a Red Wings-Richmond Braves game in the 2006 season in Richmond, VA. Frontier Field, and all of the family atmosphere and fun that accompanies it, WAY beats The Diamond. Sorry, R-Braves fans, but it's true.)
