Chinese Language Classes
Classes are held once a week, on Saturdays, from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm, in Twelve Corners Middle School in Brighton. The school office is located in Room 426 (only during Chinese school hours). There are classes for all levels, even adults. The link to the web site shows more information and provides registration forms.

Italian Language and Arts Classes for Children
The Casa offers programs to help children discover the joys of Italian language and culture and have fun at the same time! Classes are affordable, and financial aid is available for qualified students. Watch your children grow to love their Italian heritage! To register for courses, call the Casa Italiana at 389-2468, or fill out the mail-in registration form. Classes include: Musica Maestro! (Ages 12 months through 3 years, with adult); L'Italiano per i piccoli I (ages 4-7); L'Italiano per i piccoli II (ages 8-11). Casa Italiana also has a Children's Camp in the summer.

Little Hands is a class designed to teach early sign language to young children between the ages of 2 and 5. Sessions are six weeks long and cost $100 per session.
Teaching young children sign language has been shown to benefit early development in a number of ways. Such benefits include: Reduces communication frustrations; Increases IQ scores; Increases vocabulary and language skills; Builds fine and gross motor skills; Improves memory and enhances recall; Stimulates brain development.

Why wait to communicate? Discover the benefits of signing! Tiny Hands Sign provides American Sign Language classes and workshops for babies, toddlers and their caregivers. See how signing empowers children with early communication skills, reduces frustration, reinforces motor development and ENCOURAGES the development of spoken language. TINY SIGNS (Signing with Baby) are fun parent child classes - come sign, sing and play with us as we develop a vocabulary of helpful signs. WORKSHOPS for parents and caregivers provided a great start to helping you and your young child communicate through sign. TINY SIGNS is offered as a series of 4 classes, and is held on various times and days at the recreation centers mentioned above (as of Spring 2006). WORKSHOPS for parents and caregivers are offered by request to groups of 10 or more. Call or e-mail the instructor to schedule your workshop.

This 6 week class offers parents and their infants and toddlers an opportunity to learn all the basics of signing in a playful and fun environment. The Baby Signs program can help make early communication frustration-free and contribute to your child's social-emotional development. The cost of the class is $125 which includes the registration fee and the Sign, Say, and Play Starter Kit. This group is appropriate for children ages 6 months to 2 years and is led by a speech-language pathologist certified for the Baby Signs program. The next session starts October 26 and continues through December 14 (no class on November 23 and 30). Sessions are from 10:30-11:30 am.

This 6 week class is designed to introduce children to simple sign language in a fun, small-group environment. This language enrichment program will encourage and stimulate communication development and social interactions. The class meets one time per week for 60 minutes. It is most appropriate for hearing children ages 3 to 5 years who enjoy communication and social interaction with peers. The class is led by a speech-language pathologist. American Sign Language Classes
Rochester School for the Deaf (RSD) Outreach Center cordially invites individuals interested in learning American Sign Language (ASL) to attend the Center’s Signs for All classes. Through skilled instructors, RSD Signs for All classes provide an effective way to learn ASL, while promoting an understanding of Deaf Culture among class participants. Classes teach ASL through vocabulary and grammar needed to communicate in everyday situations.
The 10-week Signs for All sessions, are offered Fall, Winter and Spring, for individuals age 13 and up and children age 6-12. ASL classes are held on Tuesday evenings at RSD on St. Paul Street. The fee for children’s, beginner, intermediate, advanced and enrichment ASL classes is $90 per person. This fee is waived for RSD family members, including: RSD parents/guardians, grandparents and family siblings of deaf and hard of hearing child attending RSD.
